Nomination for a General Education Course Designation
The following web content is a biannual web publication of the Course Records Office of Wayne State University. This material consists of proposed revisions to University courses and is posted online to enable departments to update their records of current course offerings, and to provide opportunity to suggest modifications to any such proposals. In particular, departments should call our attention to instances of apparent course duplication or overlapping of content. (Submit comments to the Course Records Office at: ad0708@wayne.edu).
With this edition of the Circulated List we are attempting to address the problem of prerequisite course citations in Banner: the practice of Banner enforcement of prereqs is becoming more common and departments need to know if their prereqs are in Banner. Prereqs are put in Banner ONLY if departments specifically ask us to do so or if a prereq change involves a course with existing prereqs in Banner. In the following content all of the March 2012 course updates with prereqs put in Banner are marked with an asterisk (*). If we have neglected to carry out your instructions regarding these updates please write to: ad0708@wayne.edu.
NOTICE: The Provost is particularly concerned with credit inflation in undergraduate degree programs. It is hoped that early awareness of these changes will enable departments to reconcile any new credit values to the existing credit requirements for their degrees, if the course(s) is required in one of their programs. Please note that if a new course or course credit-change results in an increase in overall credit requirements beyond the 128 credit maximum for undergraduate degrees, individual course changes will be subject to further review.
