Courses in the following list numbered 5000-6999 may be taken for undergraduate credit unless specifically restricted to graduate students as indicated by individual course limitations. Inquiry into the values of American civilization as revealed in a wide variety of evidence from the beginnings of the American experience to the present, with a view to understanding the distinctive characteristics of the American peoples. (Y)

5997 Seminar in American Studies. Cr. 3-4 (Max. 8)

Reading, discussion, and individual research oriented toward a common theme or problem in the study of American culture. Topics to be announced in Schedule of Classes . (I)
